Brakes

Modern braking systems rarely fail completely, but over a period of time deterioration of performance occurs through gradual wear, system leaks and sometimes accidental damage. The real danger with this type of gradual deterioration is that the driver compensates subconciously and is not fully aware of the decline in braking performance. Having your brakes regularly checked by a qualified technician is the safest way to spot these early danger signs and avoid potential brake failure.

We recommended that you replace your brake pads if the pad lining material is worn down to a thickness of 3mm, and your brake shoes should be replaced if if the lining material is worn to a thickness of 1.6mm above the shoe platform. If the lining material becomes excessively worn you also run the risk of other components becoming damaged and inevitably very dangerous, along with becoming very costly to repair.

Here at Autoclinic we can visually check your brake system for you free of charge as part of our Free Vehicle Health Check. We are highly experienced and understand the importance of spotting these early danger signs before they turn serious.
